Piedmont Residence
In our renovation of a French-style Chateau in Piedmont, California, we honored the period architecture carefully detailed by Architect Albert Farr in the 1930’s. We departed from Farr’s dictum however, when we combined the servant’s quarters and a dark kitchen into one grand kitchen space. The original roofline of this portion of the house became a lofty new ceiling with a 21′ high ridgeline. This expansive, light-filled space reflects the modern lifestyle of its new owners. The new stainless steel staircase became the focal point connecting the open kitchen to the upper levels.
